Moncton to see variety of organizations in new schedule format

2019-20 NBLC Schedule has been released

(Wednesday, October 9, 2019 - Moncton, NB.) The National Basketball League of Canada has released the 2019 – 20 Regular Season Schedule. This season's schedule is set to tip-off on Boxing Day. Magic fans will be able to catch some early action as the team will be traveling to Sudbury on November 22nd, followed by the Five making a trip to the Avenir Centre on December 7thfor the pre-season. A second pre-season game at the Avenir Centre is being perused and will likely be announced in the coming weeks.

The Magic will begin their season in PEI for their annual boxing day game, and will return to Moncton the following day, Dec 27thfor their home opener at the Avenir Centre hosting a rematch of last season's Championship round against the St. John's Edge.

With the loss of two Atlantic Conference teams, the Saint John Riptide and the Cape Breton Highlanders, local Moncton fans will see greater exposure to Central Conference teams. Of the 18 regular season home games, 9 of those games will see the Central Conference at the Avenir Centre.

"I think the fans will be happy with the overall mix to the schedule the league needed to make due to this years late loss of two Maritime based teams." says VP of Operations, Mike Storey. "A bigger travel burden has been placed on all clubs to best accommodate the adjustments needed to make things work, but from the fans perspective we will be treated to more visits from teams outside the Maritime's than has been seen in years past "

Magic fans will see their organization face off against Ontario teams a total of 12 times throughout the season. Last season's finalist St. John's will play host to the Magic 4 times, and will visit Moncton twice. Moncton will be up against their rivals the Halifax Hurricanes 8 times this season, and will play against PEI 10 times who finished last season at the bottom of the standings, failing to make the playoffs with a 12-28 record.

Moncton's management is excited to be able to see the larger market teams more frequently throughout the season.

Mike Storey comments "What is even more promising is that this trend should continue with the potential addition of 2 new franchises in Quebec and Ontario for next year's season as the league continues to expand."
