(LONDON) - June 21, 2017) - The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce the arrival of a new team in Greater Moncton area comprised of three prominent local business leaders. The deal was made official today when the league signed an agreement authorizing the creation of the new club.
The new organization will operate under the name "MONCTON MAGIC" and will join the league in time for the 2017/18 regular season. The MAGIC is pleased to call the Moncton Coliseum their home court where they will host the community for all 20 of their home games. The team will be run by three principle owners, all prominent business leaders with deep roots in the Moncton region and its community: With this announcement the Moncton Miracles will cease to exist effective today.
Jon Manship is a local entrepreneur who founded Spielo Gaming International, which was sold to outside interests in 2003. In recent years, he has been an active philanthropist and investor, principally in the startup community. David Booth is the Chairman and CEO of BackOffice Associates -‐ a global governance and stewardship platform company headquartered in Northern Virginia. He has extensive business and family ties to Moncton. Jeremy Milburn is a local entrepreneur who is founder and president of Global Drafting Services. He is also an avid basketball fan who has supported pro basketball in Moncton since its beginning.
"I am very pleased to be a part of this new group who will continue to bring professional basketball to the great city of Moncton, New Brunswick", said Manship, who will be the acting President of the MONCTON MAGIC. "Greater Moncton has a long tradition of passionate support for its community teams, and we intend to apply that same level of passion to our efforts in running this club and the product we put on the floor.”
Greater Moncton’s newest team is thrilled by the support they have been shown by the NBLC.

I would also like to thank the countless volunteers, staff and fan base over the past few years that have been the lifeblood of keeping this past club here until this day could be realized."
