Magic add more Talent, Depth to Training Camp

(Moncton, New Brunswick – October 12, 2017) The Magic have announced the addition of another proven NBL Canada commodity, with the signing of former Cape Breton Highlander Chad Frazier.

Frazier, who was born in Boston, Massachusetts will enter his third season at the professional level, and second season in the National Basketball League of Canada. After spending time playing in Greece and Lithuania, Frazier made an immediate impact as a rookie with the Highlanders last season, averaging 16.8 points, 5 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game.

The former NCAA Division 1 standout at the University of Alabama-Birmingham is looking forward to his second season north of the border, this time with a new team.

"I wanted to be around great coaches, great players and great management" said Frazier. "I wanted to play somewhere I could maximize my potential, develop as a player and compete for a championship."

Magic Head Coach and GM of Player Operations Joe Salerno took notice of Frazier last season, and felt the versatile 6'4" guard could be a key contributor to the success of this year's team.

"Chad is someone that has been on our radar all summer, but as a protected player we had to wait until the October 1st deadline to negotiate with him. I was pleased we were able to get this deal done and have Chad join our organization. He has great size at the guard position, which allows him to defend multiple positions, yet he can be a real mis-match problem for opponents on the offensive end."

Frazier was named to Cape Breton's protected list at the end of last season, but had yet to re-sign with the team by the leagues October 1st deadline. Cape Breton declined to match the offer for Frazier, making his contract with the Magic official.

Frazier will join a talented Magic back court at the team's training camp in early November, something he says he is looking forward to.

"I'm ready to meet my new family and start working towards one goal, and that's a Championship."
