Magic put on Pre-Season Show for Eager Fans

The Magic showcased some newly acquired talent Wednesday night in an inter-squad Team Black vs. Team White matchup at Crandall University. Head coach Joe Salerno took a temporary backseat as assistants Matt Robertson and Todd McKillop led the two halves against each other in stiff competition.

At the buzzer Robertson's Team White came out just one point above at 104-103, despite incredible contributions from NBL star Corey Allmond who managed an astonishing point-per-minute average with 41 total for Team Black.

Team White's victory was heavily supported by an effective use of players, seemingly styled after NBA legendary San Antonio Spurs. All five starters landed in the double digits for points, led by an ever-present Jeremy Williams at 24 total. Just trailing was rookie Dominic Phillips who played with such intensity that he was able to pull down nine rebounds in addition to his 23 points, while drawing fouls throughout.

While the matchup was a mock up, the effort couldn't have been more genuine, and served as an excellent reward for the near-capacity crowd who came seeking a sneak peak of what's to come for Moncton's newest team. Suspense and excitement were active ingredients in last night's game from start to finish, keeping pre-season fans firmly gripping their seats. This was dramatically reinforced by Allmond's 3-point shot to tie the game with 25.8 seconds to go.

Both the team and its fans are looking forward to the Magic's NBL home opener vs. Saint John's NFLD on November 22nd 7:00pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
