(Moncton, New Brunswick – September 11, 2018) In what has been a very busy offseason for the Moncton Magic is slowly but surely coming to an end. The NBL Canada 2018-19 regular season schedule was announced on Monday by league officials, giving fans both in Moncton and across Canada something they have been looking forward to over the summer months.
The Magic will open the 2018-19 regular season on the road in Halifax on November 15, in what will be a rematch of last years Atlantic division finals. This will be the first time the two clubs faced off against each other after making what many believe to be one of the biggest trades in NBLC history, when the Magic acquired the rights to 1stteam league All-star Billy White, after sending former Canadian Player of the Year, Terry Thomas to Halifax.
The Magic's highly anticipated home opener at the new Avenir Centre in downtown Moncton will take place on Saturday, November 17that 7:00pm, when they welcome in the same Hurricanes for the 2ndgame of their opening weekend home and home series. Fans won't have to wait long to get a 2ndlook at the revamped Magic, as they will also play host to the Cape Breton Highlanders for a Sunday afternoon matinee at 2pm the following day.
The Magic's 40 game regular season schedule will be an even split, with 20 of those games being played at home, and 20 on the road. A new twist to the schedule this season will allow fans to see more Ontario based teams coming to town, as the league has moved to an unbalanced schedule for the first time since its inaugural season back in 2011-2012.
